Eta Cassiopeiae
Aug. 7th, 2010 08:12 amEta Cassiopeiae is a binary system located 19.4 light years from Sol, located of course in good old, recognizable, W-shaped Cassiopeia. Star A is a yellow G0V dwarf, very close to Sol in terms of spectral class and probably age as well (estimates range from 3 to 6 billion years). On the other hand, metallicity is only around 65%. Star B is a K7V orange dwarf. The two stars don’t come any closer to each other than 36 AU in their mutual orbit. This system is a very promising candidate to have a world we could live on.
