K stars from 30 to 35 light years
Sep. 10th, 2010 06:04 pmHere are some more brief notes on K stars, these ones in the 30-35 light year range:
Gliese 432: a K0V star with an M companion over 100 AU distant, in Hydra, 32 light years away, between 4 and 6 billion years old. ETA: Beichman et al give a metallicity around 42% of Sol’s.
Gliese 638: a K7V star in Hercules, 32 light years away.
12 Ophiuchi: a variable K2V star, 32 light years away, around the same metallicity as Sol but only 1 to 2 billion years old.
Gliese 75: a K0V star in Cassiopeia, 33 light years away, metallicity close to Sol’s or higher, between 2 and 4 billion years old.
HR 5256: a K3V star in Ursa Major, 33 light years away.
Gliese 453: a K5V star in Hydra, 33 light years away. Metallicity is about half again that of Sol.
Gliese 117: a K1V star in Eridanus, 34 light years away, metallicity close to Sol’s, probably a variable star.
Gliese 688: a K3V star with a companion of unknown type, in Ophiuchus, 34 light years away.
