Gliese 853/HD 211415 A and B
Oct. 6th, 2010 06:20 pmThis system is located in Grus, about 44 light years away. A is a G2V star and B is an M-class red dwarf whose closest approach to A is not yet known. However, it hasn’t been observed to come close enough to interfere with life bearing planets around A. Margaret Turnbull has named A one of her top five candidates for hosting a lifebearing planet. It’s between 2.6 and 4.1 billion years old with a metallicity about half Sol’s.
