61 Virginis is about 28 light years from Sol, probably around 6 billion years old, a little smaller and less hot at spectral class G5V.
(As an aside, I’ve always thought it was silly to refer to one star as “cooler” than another, when no active star is “cool” by human standards. Oh, well, if you can call a 50-million-year-old star “young”…)
This system is another one where your story may be overtaken by astronomical discovery if you choose to use it - three planets were discovered in 2009, and there may be more. All these planets are at least 5 times as massive as Earth (one more than 20 times), and all three are closer to 61 Virginis than Venus is to Sol! There must be some interesting things happening there.
