HD 154088/Gliese 652
This is a G8IV or V star located 59 light years out, in Ophiuchus. It could be anywhere from 4.4 to 12 billion years old. Metallicity is around twice that of Sol. It’s only 11 light years from HD 193664 (see October 25 entry).
70 Virginis
A G2V star 59.1 light years out, probably around 8 billion years old with a metallicity around 90% of Sol’s. It has at least one planet, one of the first to be discovered (way back in 1995, when every new planet was big news!) As you might expect of a planet that’s been known that long, it’s a huge super-Jovian at least, and quite possibly a brown dwarf. It may be just the right (or wrong) distance from the star to make an Earthlike planet in the life zone impossible.
