When we get to the stars, what will actually be worth sending from one star to another?  Those interstellar ore carriers in Alien aren’t really very plausible, you know... and neither, I’m sorry to say, are a lot of the scenarios you see in written SF.   This article by SF writer and games designer Greg Costikyan is almost 30 years old, but it still serves as a look at how economics might actually work when those vast distances come into play.
